Minutes
Call to order: Chairman Robert King called meeting of January 17, 2008 to order 7:10 pm at the Orange Boating Club.
A sign in sheet was pasted around, so a list of attendees is available.
Minutes: Chairman King asked if the minutes to be accepted from Nov 2007, one change correction and minutes where accepted.
Reports by other members:- Friends will invite Seminole County WAV coordinator Amanda Mattison to our April meeting to speak on how they can help get involved in cleaning up Jesup water and shoreline.
- B-Map meeting is Jan 24th at 1pm at Lake Sylvan; Cecile is on the working group with one direct from the board, that XXXXXX
- The draft documents for LAKE JESUP INTERAGENCY RESTORATION STRATEGY was presented to Kirby Green, Ken Haddad and Mike Sole there are issues they are still trying to work out before final document is presented Robert questions where what keeps the agencies moving forward once this plan has been accepted, who watches over the progress. Regina ideas where that they have a possible swim plan, Barbara felt because it was the 3 agency they would watch over each other, The question was asked do we want a legislative record but Kevin and Robert brought up that Friends are not mandated anymore. Friends asked when to expect a press release, not until everything is finalized that may be 60 days. Robert just wanted to make sure that if for some reason the public was not pushing this plan that the time table would still be meet. Regina stated she would lock into how that would work and report back to the group. It was suggested to watch the progress over the next few years and see if something really needs to be put in place.
- Danny brought up that the Soil and Water grant and letter was not in draft, Regina said there where several questions and that she would call and speak to Danny to see if she could get answers and then move forward from there.
- Several members needed updated copies of grant e-mailed to them; this was completed the day after the meeting
- Robert spoke about speaking at the Seminole County delegation meeting at the county service building in December about mitigation outside the basin. He asked that the group please look into how outside the basin mitigation can be done when it is against the law. Robert stated he had not heard a thing since his request.
- Cecilia brought up March 29 there will be a Water Quality Day Rep Nelson is holding in Apopka and though the friend may want to attend.
- Regina state the Lake Howell Master Plan is still being worked on; they are still trying to determine where the problems are coming from.
