Call to order: Chairman Robert King called meeting to order 7:05pm At the Orange Boating Club

Minutes: Minutes approved with no changes from Jan 18th meeting

Reports by other members:

  1. State Road 46 Bridge Project - Scott Bear of CH2MHill: Stated that the bids would go out to select a contract in August of 2007and to be award no later than November 2007, with a completion date of 2010. They are cleaning up the property on 46 fish camp area by removing old boats and buildings. Scott states he will be meeting with FAA and Orlando Sanford airport on cranes that will be in place to build bridge. Question was asked: Has the four lane issue been brought up, Scott stated no.

  2. USVCOE 1135 project status for Lake Jesup/Channel Options - Pete last meeting he attended on Government cut was to close government cut and Kevin Buck stated opening up the navigation channel, Coast Guard is still working with Kevin at Mr. Feeney office. Scott Bear spoke about the cost of fenders and lights.

  3. Channel C mitigation review - Robert King & Ed Hayes , spoke about a meeting they attends and about all the different issues with dredging, land purchase options and the DEP report on Site 10.

  4. Update of Muck removalproject / ERP review meeting - Ed Hayes ,spoke about different issues facing his part of the project aquatic enhancement project, cost, mitigation property .

  5. State and Federal Legislation report - Chairman King spoke about bill language and not allowing migration outside the Jesup basin. Therefore, the bill language would remain the same that was proposed on Jan 19, 2007. No word from Sandy Adams office.

  6. BMAP progress Report - Sherry Brandt Williams spoke about nutrients in Lake Jesup, report is due that everyone has been waiting for, must be reviewed by FDEP, HDR Engineering , City of Sanford prior to Friends getting a copy of report this could take up to two month. Spoke about an upcoming meeting called Florida Lake Management Society, a 4-day conference. However, many would like to attend cost and amount of day makes it impossible. Spoke about possible poster project or papers to be written on Jessup. In addition, a web site http://www.nalms.org/ , that offers help to teachers and students.FLMS Conference will held in conjunction with the NALMS SE Regional Conference at the Naples Grande Resort & Club Florida from June 4 - 7, 2007 The 2007 Symposium will be held at Disney Oct 29th thru Nov 3rd.

  7. SR 417 Stormwater alternatives proposal from FTE

  8. Winter Springs surface water withdrawal application - St. Johns has requested more information from Winter Springs.

New Business Reports or Updates:

  1. Chairman King has invited Lake Management people from Seminole County to come to meeting next month
  2. Adrian from Tom Feeney office with is taking a tour of the lake.
  3. Introduce Deborah Schafer the new administrator
  4. Spoke about sending out more information e-mails
  5. Updating data base of e-mail list
  6. Working on updating web site, to have more links available and more information on web site
  7. Friends are getting more folks who want to volunteers
  8. Item on new business about updated F.E.M.A maps was not discussed

April 3rd the Turnpike Enterprise will be holding a meeting at the Sanford Civic center to show maps of the widening of 417. Comments from public can be made at that time, we will send out an e-mail to all concerned to attend that meeting.

Chairman King has a work session with Winter Springs some time in April, both himself, Cecila and Deborah will be attending that work session.

Environmental Center display case needs to be updated, possible poster presentation.

Geneva Citizens Association, thank Robert King for all his hard work and presented him with a T-Shirt that said (KEEP IT RURAL)

Chairman King asked if there was any other business, with none on the table the meeting was closed.
